We are all having to deal with the anxiety and stress around Covid-19, here are a few thing that are keeping me sane.

Structure

Have some structure in your day. I’m still getting up at the same time, getting ready for work and taking a break for lunch. It is however hard to remain focused at home, when the sun is shinning tempting you away from the jobs that need doing. But I have been updating my website, writing blogs and business planning. I thinks it’s important to look to the future when things will have returned to a more normal state, and plan for that.

Acupressure

I’m doing daily acupressure on a point called ST 36 its a great allrounder, but one of the best for immune health. We can all massage this point a few times a day. It’s located four fingers width under the knee cap on the outer side of the shin. Massage this point with firm pressure for a few minutes each time.

Yoga

Keeping up with my yoga practice is so important to me and thankfully my favourite yoga studio is doing fantastic live online classes at the moment. I hadn’t noticed just how much stress I was holding in my shoulders until I did a couple of yoga sessions and just felt it melt away. They are available to book online here Om is Where the Heart is.

Nutrition

It’s really important what we put into our bodies right now, as we need to stay strong and healthy to boost that immune system. I recommend eating lots of fruit and veg, and mix those colours up. I’m also trying to cut down on my food waste too. I’m buying a chicken to roast which makes two meals, and then slow cooking the chicken with a few carrots and onions to make a bone broth. It just goes in the slow cooker for at least six hours. Then I drain the liquid and throw in more carrots, onions, sweet potatoes, mushrooms and garlic, but you can use any veg that needs eating up. I simmer this for an hour and end up with a big pan of tasty soup.

Get creative

This is a great time to start that hobby that you never have time for. I’m hoping to do a spot of painting, but whatever floats your boat. Just make sure you’re having fun.

Fresh Air

I know we can’t get out and about as much as we would like to, but we can exercise outside once a day and get out into our gardens if we have them. Just make sure that you keep a safe distance of two metres away from everyone when you are out and about.

Breathe

Find time for some daily mindfulness or just make sure you are taking a deep breath every now and then. Relax your shoulders, close your eyes and just take a deep breath.

Stay in Touch

Stay in touch with family and friends, there are some great online meeting apps. I’m using zoom. Have set times for a catch up. It’s so good to see peoples faces. You can even set up a quiz or a meal with friends. Thankfully we live in a world where all this is possible online.

Just remember this too shall pass.
